The following is a list of standards and targets. These are the areas that I want you to improve and enhance in your mathematics class. These are English Common Core Standards, but they fit very well with our math in terms of vocabulary. The Technology standards have also been addressed as well.

Common Core Standards for English - in our math class:


CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.7.4 - Determine or clarify the meaning of unknown and multiple-meaning words and phrases based on grade 7 reading and content
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.7.4c Consult general and specialized reference materials (e.g., dictionaries, glossaries, thesauruses), both print and digital, to find the pronunciation of a word or determine or clarify its precise meaning or its part of speech.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.7.5 - Demonstrate understanding of figurative language, word relationships, and nuances in word meanings.
  • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.7.5b Use the relationship between particular words (e.g., synonym/antonym, analogy) to better understand each of the words.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.7.6 Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression (Commoncore.org, n.d.).

Technology Integration – NETS for Students

1. Creativity and Innovation: Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.
- Demonstrate understanding through of the math concepts covered in the unit with a visual representation (NETs for students, n.d.).

2. Communication and Collaboration: Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, in cluding at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others.
- Interact, collaborate, and publish with peers employing a variety of digital environments and media as they contribute to their classroom wiki (NETs for students, n.d.).

5. Digital Citizenship: Students understand human, cultural, and societal issues related to technology and practice legal andethical behavior.
- Advocate and practice safe, legal, and responsible use of information and technology
- Exhibit a positive attitude toward using technology that supports collaboration, learning, and productivity
- Demonstrate personal responsibility for lifelong learning
- Exhibit leadership for digital citizenship (NETs for Students, n.d.).

6.Technology Operations and Concepts: Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations
- Student is able to use an online tool to communicate and collaborate (NETs for students, n.d.).
